Data Security Update

Radiant is pleased to provide our retail customers with a recommendation for a 3rd party PCI compliance solution provider, ControlScan, to help you complete the PCI certification process.
There have been many discussions about the difference between data security and PCI-DSS compliance. Data security is an ongoing endeavor to manage technology, environments, and processes to keep sensitive information safe. Compliance is the point in time when the customer submits proof to their processor that they have met PCI-DSS requirements. This proof includes submitting a Self Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) and submitting to quarterly network scans.
While much of Radiant's communication focuses on improvement of overall data security, achieving PCI-DSS compliance is very important as well. Achieving PCI-DSS compliance helps merchants understand how to better secure their data, implement pertinent security policies, and, of course, avoid fines from credit processors. In addition, all merchants regardless of business size or number of credit transactions processed, have been required to be PCI-DSS compliant since 2006. Greetings from Oklahoma where I manage a chain of specialty food stores. We love CounterPoint and use the Price Rule area to set our various special pricing promotions. This works well, but I really wish there were a way to see all the price rules active, or even to be able to test the rules without having to enter a ticket. Any assistance you can offer would be great. Thanks!

Price Rules, Rule!
Dear Price -
First of all, there is a Price Test utility in Inventory/Utilities/Price Test. Simply enter the item and any other specific information related to a price rule, then press the "Get Price" button on the bottom of the screen, and we will show you the calculated price. Please note that you can even get the loyalty points awarded for that transaction in the Price Test as well by clicking on the loyalty tab. Additionally, under Inventory/Reports you will find a number of reports on price rules including Planned Promo, Price Rules, Items on Sale, Item Price List, and Customer Price List.

Dear Day -
We do not lock you in to a specific end-of-day process. We've found over the years that each retailer's process varies a little, and we leave it open so that you can define the process that works best for you. With that said though, you really want to be sure you have a defined process. Before you Post Tickets (which should be done daily) most CounterPoint users count and reconcile their Drawer, settle credit cards, and run reports like the X-Tape and the Ticket Edit List. After Posting tickets, you would typically run end-of-day reports like the Ticket Journal, Drawer Summary, and Z-Tape. You also want to be sure you Close Gift Cards and Store Credits on a regular basis, if not every day at least once a month. Your Radiant Business Partner is an excellent source if you need help defining your process.

Dear Andee -
I use CounterPoint V7 in my garden center, and we implemented a loyalty program about 6 months ago. It's definitely driving users back to the store, and my question is, when the customer is at the register checking out, and wants to know what their point balance is, what's the best way to get to that information?
